Empower Your Business with the Best DAS System

Poor cellular service is an inconvenience that plagues all industries, hindering communication, productivity, and your bottom line.

The number one solution is a Distributed Antenna System (DAS). Whether Active DAS, Hybrid DAS, or Passive DAS, these systems significantly enhance cellular reliability and coverage. This means no more dropped calls or unreliable data.

Wilson Amplifiers is excited to introduce the most innovative and reliable DAS solution available, Zinwave.

Meet Zinwave DAS for Seamless Connectivity

Zinwave offers the DAS technology needed to combat cellular signal challenges with growing bandwidth demands across any industry. They are the leading provider of unique, patented, five-component, ultra-wideband RF over fiber solutions: Uniwave and Unitivity. The main difference between the two DAS system solutions is the supported frequency bands.

The Zinwave architecture consists of a primary hub(s), service module(s), secondary hub(s), optical module(s), and remote units.

Zinwave DAS Solution

One single layer of hardware provides reliable in-building and on-campus 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular from any carrier as well as public safety, two-way radio, and other wireless services within the supported frequency range. This allows users within the building to access their respective networks seamlessly without any degradation in performance.

Zinwave DAS benefits include:

  • Wideband: Zinwave DAS system supports frequencies 150 MHz to 5 GHz with Uniwave or 150 MHz to 2.7 GHz with Unitivity. At the moment of installation, a single system can work with one, some, or all cellular and public safety bands available today. Compatible with a variety of wireless networks, Zinwave can be customized to your specific needs.
  • Future Proof: Due to its wideband support and unique design, additional carriers and technologies can be integrated into the system as needed after initial setup without adjusting hardware. There is no need to purchase multiple systems that cater to different technologies.
  • Fiber-Based: Using fiber cabling makes for a much more reliable and powerful system. Compared to coax and ethernet, they offer significantly less loss and greater bandwidth. Thus, they are perfect for large buildings and campuses. Fiber may also reduce the need for roof penetration and allow for easier installation.
  • Scalable: Zinwave DAS systems have the ability to expand and adapt easily to accommodate unique coverage needs and changing technology requirements.

Zinwaves DAS Solutions

Zinwave’s solutions can be deployed in an Active DAS or Hybrid DAS configuration. They are not Passive DAS solutions.

WilsonPro Passive DAS: Good Coverage

Passive DAS, also referred to as cell phone signal booster, is the most widely known type of DAS. It’s also the most common as it’s the most affordable option and the easiest to deploy.

This type of DAS solution takes existing off-the-air cellular signals from nearby cell towers and rebroadcasts them even stronger indoors. It does so using passive components, which are pieces that do not generate signal themselves. The system is composed of donor antennas, amplifiers, indoor antennas, and coaxial cables. The amount of equipment needed will depend on building layout and coverage needs.

A WilsonPro Passive DAS can help improve cellular reception for all cellular carriers (Bell, Telus, Rogers, etc.) throughout an entire commercial space or specific trouble areas. While extremely effective, it has some limitations.

WilsonPro Passive DAS

If the signal reaching the outdoor antenna is weak or noisy, coverage area and capacity are both compromised. Also, the power of Passive DAS components are limited by IC and the FCC to prevent interference with carrier networks, so they have difficulty covering areas larger than about 500,000 sq ft. Using coaxial cable, long runs are challenging, and attenuation impacts broadcasted signal. Zinwave’s Hybrid DAS and Active DAS overcome those limitations.

Zinwave Active DAS: Best Coverage

Active DAS allows for superior coverage, capacity, and signal strength. They use active components.

Zinwave Active DAS receives RF signals from either carrier-specific small cells or base transceiver stations (BTSs). Since the system is connected directly to the signal source, a stronger signal is provided than off-the-air.

Components used convert received RF signals to optical for transmission across fiber optic cable. Compared to coax cable, this allows for longer cable runs with significantly less loss, allowing for greater scalability and coverage.

Remote units distributed throughout the building receive those optical signals, convert them back to RF, and amplify them for broadcasting via connected antennas.

Zinwave Active DAS

Your frequency needs will determine which Zinwave Active DAS configuration is best for you. Zinwave’s Uniwave covers frequencies 150 MHz to 5 GHz while Unitivity covers frequencies 150 MHz to 2.7 GHz. Unlike other Active DAS solutions out on the market, Zinwave allows you to add and remove wireless services as needed without adjusting or replacing the whole system after installation.

If using small cells, deployment is quick and easy. Though, they have limited capacity. BTSs provide the best results. Carrier approval is needed for deployment which can take months.

Zinwave WilsonPro Hybrid DAS: Great Coverage

A Hybrid DAS uses both passive and active components. It provides better coverage than a Passive DAS with faster deployment times and a lower price tag than Active DAS.

Zinwave’s Hybrid DAS uses donor antennas to capture off-the-air cellular signals from different carrier cell towers (the signal source). The WilsonPro amplifier boosts those signals and transmits them to the Zinwave system via coax cable. From here, operation is exactly like that of the Zinwave Active DAS.

Those RF signals are converted to optical and transmitted via fiber to the Remote Units. The Remote Units convert the optical signals back to RF and amplify them for broadcasting via connected antennas.

Zinwave WilsonPro Hybrid DAS

Compared to other Hybrid DAS on the market, Zinwave’s WilsonPro Hybrid DAS supports more spectrum, allowing you to cover your building with any wireless service needed. Using fiber cable rather than ethernet, this system can handle more bandwidth for growing cellular needs.
